We have learned that when traveling with a kid, a whole lotta rules have got to get thrown out of the window. I heard some advice that the more you travel with your kid, the easier it gets. There is a lot of truth to that. However, once I stopped breastfeeding (G was 1), take off and landing on flights became a bit more difficult and once Baby G entered toddlerhood (12 - 36 months), our travel game had to change.
If you are one of those women who are 35 and older and plan to have a baby (I gave birth at age 37), I have some news that you can put into your crap pile along with getting the scarlet letters “AMA” (read: Advanced Maternal Age) branded onto your medical files. You are biologically more prone to have multiple babies (twins, triplets, or more) than younger women.
Davis has cogently illustrated, in her recent book, how the Black Lives Matter movement and Palestinian human rights are intrinsically linked. THIS is the nucleus of the perceived threat. Those in power of the Military and Prison Industrial Complexes have historically *tried* to silence, criticize or blacklist respected Black activists who cross the respectability politics line so these important connections do not get incorporated and accepted into mainstream thought . . .
I recently reached out to Dr. Edwards to discuss her upcoming book, Hiding in Plain Sight: Black Women, the Law, and the Making of a White Argentine Republic. It goes into depth about how many cities in Argentina had populations where 30-40% of inhabitants were African and/or African descent in the 18th Century. That evolved into less than a percentage point by 2010 . . . Sit back and get ready for us to discuss the first time she felt like a Woman, why she refuses to use the term ‘white supremacy’ in the Argentine context, how she could not have made tenure without her women of color sisters in the academy and more.
If you hold your pee over and over again for many years you will “denervate” the bladder, or deaden the normal nerve signals. When decades have gone by, you can't regrow the nerves that squeeze the bladder.
